in this episode i point at some watera weir and a wheel. i'm just on my way to houghton mill which is in cambridgeshire just going to kind of look at it basically and to take some photos very picturesque little place
car hire huntingdon uk, this is houghton mill this is where the water comes in it goes through this water wheel here and it generates electricity or power
i suppose in the day it was just making power to run the mill. don't suppose you canreally see much inside there this is the other side of the mill ifyou look in that direction you'll see a sluice gate. now a sluice gate is a whenthe water comes very high and they just raised the sluice and let the water flowthrough. there's a couple of ducks ducks in a row
that's about it. this is probably about 16th century by the look of it? there's the house that's obviously the millkeepers joint. obviously the mill keepers place. look at these are old gears. they've made them into like a feature for rubbing your dirty boots on interesting place. public bridal way, publicfootpath. ouse valley way. it's all kind of connected. because we live in a very flat region of england and it's liable to flooding.
so yeah it's the smart thing to do. the smart thing to do back in the day. was to use the water to power yourequipment and that's what this place does it uses the water power. to powerthe mill. that's it. that's houghton mill. hope you liked this little tour of houghton mill. very fast. see you next time. bye now
